Trump’s Beauty Pageant Rallies Work

Trump has things he learned while running beauty pageants, model agencies, casino’s, golf courses and as a reality show host. I think he was able to used them very effectively in his rallies and as far as I know little has been said about this subtle strategy.

His strategy was both visual and visceral. He uses people as props behind his podium. And while this has been done to a certain degree by many politicians, Trump took it to a new level.

Eye candy

Young blonde and other beautiful girls — they are always positioned to either side of him where there is no possible way TV and other video services will miss them. They usually hold up placards and jump up and down and mainly don’t wear masks to their faces can be seen. It may very well be that they are hired to be like models.

A mixture of young men — they are usually above and back of him.

Different flavours of rugged looking men — they are to either side.

A few token good looking older ladies — they are on either side.

One black man — usually right behind him in a very conspicuous place.

As the camera pans over his backdrop people will get the impression that Donald Trump is the party of beautiful, handsome or rugged people.

You won’t find ugly people standing behind Donald. There is purpose to this. On TV and reality shows it’s always about beautiful people. Just like Hollywood Donald Trump has a fetish about physical appearance. He knows it sells and smells of success.

That is why many people buy into his con. He presents the illusion of an alternative rich and famous lifestyle that the average person desires. It’s an allure that attracts people into his sphere of influence.

For years people have vicariously watched movies and television programs that promote the idea that you have to have a winner takes all cut throat attitude to be successful. The apprentice showed Donald the extent to which people can be led into a false dream.

The media and TV is about playing on the emotional needs of people.

He observed first hand in his beauty pageants that many men love to be associated with young and beautiful women and that many women are attracted to glamour and wealth.

The casino business, Trump University and The Apprentice taught him that many people can easily buy into fake promises.

The Apprentice also taught him what it is like to have power over people who depend on you to be successful, how he could make up the rules and they would do anything.

He learned that cheating has almost no consequences if you do lots of it and even if people knew you were cheating. All that you had to do was deny it, attack or change the subject. He was good at that and knew how to keep people’s eye on something shiny.

As a TV addict he understood how most people had deep fears of race, crime and injustices. He knew how to play people off on each other and had no shame in chumming up to those he needed or turning on those who slighted him.

He plays the crowd. He says something, listens and then repeats whatever generates the best reaction. Anybody observing such a crowd will feel there must be something real there otherwise why the fuss?

Crowds and the constitution of the crowds matter for him has they are the part of the formula made for TV.

Donald Trump has learned if you are important and insult the media they will follow you with a vengeance. That is how he gets the coverage of his crowd. They chant make noise and the camera pans over him and those behind him.

That is the allure and that is what attracts people to feel they want to belong to that crowd. It’s all about the sense of belonging.

They are not voting for Donald Trump, they are voting for themselves.
